NANOCELLE® COSMETICS

NanoCelle® provides for the premise of increased absorption by providing nanoparticle solutions for hard-to-absorb compounds.

Background

Dermal absorption allows the passage of compounds across the three skin layers—the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis, as described. The dermis and hypodermis, but not the epidermis, contain an interconnected network of vessels characterized by regular structures on all levels. Two networks of blood vessels are present in the skin: a superficial network at the interface between the papillary and reticular dermis and a lower network located on the border between the dermis and hypodermis. Vertical vessels connect both networks. The skin's blood vessel system supplies the cells and tissue with nutrients and oxygen, regulates the blood pressure, regulates the body temperature, and provides a barrier against absorption. Dermal absorption can be divided into three steps:

  • Penetration is the entry of a substance via the skin layers. The compound or particle may accumulate in a particular layer of stratum corneum or enter the blood supply.

  • Permeation is the movement of chemicals through one layer into another via hydrophilic channels .

  • Resorption is the uptake of a substance into the vascular system (lymph and/or blood vessel), which acts as the central compartment. Dermal absorption is the total sum of the three processes.

Latest Market Trends

Nanotechnology incorporation in cosmetic formulation is considered the hottest and emerging technology available. Cosmetic manufacturers use nanoscale size ingredients to provide better UV protection, deeper skin penetration, long-lasting effects, increased color, finish quality, and many more.” From micellar systems to modern-day characterised nanostructures (1-100nm), Nanotechnology allows for improved penetration and the use of larger molecules with poor permeability properties.

Concept Products

Using NanoCelle® we have developed several proof-of-concept products to demonstrate NanoCelle’s topical and derma opportunities. Due to the inherited small particle size, NanoCelle® promotes a deeper penetration in the skin. Secondly, because of the NanoCelle® structure, the therapeutic compound is solubilized meaning improved absorption.

Some examples include:

  • Cannabis

  • Omega 7

  • Menthol

  • Lidocaine

  • Vitamins A, C and E

  • CoQ10
